This Museum is Bringing A Splash of Color to Detroit

Add a splash of color to your next family outing with a visit to The Coloring Museum. Operated by Naturally Illustrated, a local business that seeks to improve mental health and quality of life through art therapy, the museum is tons of colorful fun for both kids and grown-ups. 

Visitors can spend up to two hours coloring 90s-inspired murals on the walls. There are also coloring sheets and other individual art projects for artists that prefer to create their own masterpiece.

  • Hours: 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday-Friday; 12-8 p.m. Saturday-Sunday
  • Note: Children are not allowed after 7 p.m. on Fridays, or the first and third Saturday of the month. These time periods are reserved for adult events. 
  • Best for: Ages 5 and older
  • Cost: $15/adults 16-plus, $10/children 15 and younger

The museum’s mission is to support minority artists, and to help the community improve their mental health through art. The Coloring Museum offers creative activities as simple as coloring that can help relieve stress and relax the body and mind. Plus, it can be an affordable form of art therapy for people with feelings of depression and anxiety.
