Watch This, Do That: Spy Kids: Armageddon

In Spy Kids: Armageddon, Patty (Everly Carganilla) and Tony (Connor Esterson) are just like any kids their age – they love video games and they’re really good at them. Even though their parents, Terrance (Zachary Levi) and Nora (Gina Rodriguez) seem to be overprotective when it comes to their electronics, it’s for a very good reason.

When the Armageddon, a powerful computer virus, gets into the wrong hands, the Tango-Torrez family is separated. The children must learn how to become spies like their parents – to save their parents and the world.

This film is rated PG for action sequences.

A few takeaways to discuss with the kids:

  • Respect the rules your parents set in place. Tony and Patty’s parents had the “no electronics” rule for a reason.
  • Always play fair and honest. When playing the game against The King, Tony couldn’t cheat or use any tricks in order to beat him.
  • Use your kind words and actions to inspire others. Patty knew there was a better way to be a spy. Because of her kind words and actions, she was respected in the game.
  • It’s important to be yourself. Although Tony was dressed up as a character from the video game when going against The King, he didn’t act like the character. He remained true to who he was and got rewarded for doing so.

Movie-inspired activities

  • Go to the playground or create your own obstacle course in your backyard to “train” to be a spy just like Patty and Tony did in their secret lair.
  • Play these online educational video games.
  • Take your own family electronics break.
  • Draw your own safe house. You can even include what your spy outfit would look like.
  • Play a video game as a family such as Mario Kart, Mario Party, Carnival Games or Monopoly.
  • Watch the earlier Spy Kids movies and rank them in order of least favorite to favorite.
