Happy New Year … again! About a month after the standard American New Year fun kicks off Jan. 1, the Lunar New Year celebrations in metro Detroit begin.
And, as you might know, there’s also a critter to represent the new year, thanks to the Chinese 12-year animal zodiac. 2025 is the Year of the Snake!

Art Lights the Night: A New Year Lantern Festival at Leslie Science & Nature Center

The Chinese New Year Celebration at Mon Jin Lau Restaurant

- Cost: $85/ages 11 and up, $40/ages 3-10, free/ages 2 and under
Celebrate the Year of the Snake at Mon Jin Lau Restaurant with a spectacular event for all ages! Tickets must be purchased in advance. Dinner reservations can be made from 5:45-6:45 p.m. and the Traditional Lion Dance will start promptly at 7 p.m. There will also be tarot card readers, magicians and firecrackers.
Winter Around the World at Valade Park

Winter Around the World will feature a Lunar New Year Celebration on Sunday, Feb. 16. There will be dance performances, an international food truck rally and more.
