The Selfridge Air Show is one of Macomb County’s most popular events. There will also be a STEAM Expo this year. The Open House STEAM Expo’s theme is “Innovation Focused, STEAM Driven.” Many STEAM organizations will be there, including Macomb County Robotics teams to offer exhibits and demonstrations.
We spoke with Tom Line from Armada Fighting Pi about the robotics teams that will be at the event this weekend.
“There will be 28 teams here from Michigan, mainly from Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne counties,” says Line. “A lot of what we’re doing at the event is outreach – to get people who have never seen it before interested in robots.”
He explains that kids coming to the STEAM Expo will get to drive and play interactive games with the robots, as well as take home buttons, lanyards and keychains.
“We’re hoping to catch their imagination early and get them into robotics,” he says.
