Music in the Park Events for Metro Detroit Kids

Summer is upon us, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to make fun memories. What better way to bring your family together than with music? Southeast Michigan is full of summertime concerts for you and your family to enjoy.

My son Jordan and I love going to Music and Movies in the Park at the Civic Center. They always have fun activities for the kids to do beforehand and we get to sit and listen to music before the movie begins.

Sound like the perfect event for you and your crew? Peruse this list to find some of the best music in the park events in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Once you find the one for you, grab a blanket and head out for an evening of musical memories.

Music in the Park events in Macomb County

Summer Concert Series at Stony Creek Metropark 

June 28; July 12, 26; Aug. 9, 23, 2024

Concerts will be held at Eastwood Beach. Bring blankets, chairs and even a picnic to enjoy while listening to fun tunes across multiple genres. For all ages.

Symphony by the Shores at Lake St. Clair Metropark 

June 25-July 30, 2024 (Tuesdays)

Bring a chair, or a blanket, and kick back to beautiful sounds of the symphony at the Thomas Welsh Activity Center.

Music in the Park at Macomb Corners Park 

June 27; July 11, 18, 25; Aug. 1, 2024 

There’s a Kid Zone play area, complete with inflatables and games in addition to the live musical performances.

Music and Movies in the Park at the Civic Center

July 17, 24, 31, 2024

Head to the Civic Center to enjoy pre-show activities, music and an outdoor family-friendly film. July 17 features Mainstream Drive and Trolls Band Together. July 24 is Interstate 90s and The Super Mario Bros. July 31 is Collision Six and Kung Fu Panda 4.

Sunday Night Concert Series at Lake St. Clair Metropark 

Through Sept. 1, 2024 (Sundays)

Bring a chair or blanket, and kick back to some fun tunes across multiple genres.

Summer Sounds at The Mall at Partridge Creek

Through Sept. 2, 2024 (Fridays-Sundays, Memorial Day and Labor Day)

These weekend shows feature nearly 50 local artists. Make sure to bring a folding camp chair or low-to-the-ground chair since seating is limited.

Music in the Park events in Oakland County

Marshbank Music Series at Marshbank Park 

July 10, 17, 24, 31, 2024

Each concert features music from different genres, food trucks and a beer and wine tent. 

Royal Oak Summer Concert Series at Centennial Commons Park

July 11, 18, 25; Aug. 1, 8, 15, 2024

Families can enjoy a weekly summer concert each week with all types of genres including Blues, Irish-American Rock, Classic Rock, Motown and much more.   

Summer Sensation Concert Series at Boulan Park

June 27; July 11, 25; Aug. 8, 22, 2024

Come out to Boulan Park on select Thursdays this summer to enjoy a variety of genres. There will be food trucks, too. Weekend Comeback is on June 27, Air Margaritaville is on July 11, The Social Bandits is on July 25, TNT Big Band is on Aug. 8 and Thornetta Davis – Detroit’s Queen of the Blues is on Aug. 22. 

Friday Nights Music Series at Riverside Park 

June 28-Aug. 23, 2024 (Fridays) 

Start your weekend off with live music every Friday night at the Knight Amphitheater. 

Friday Night Live Concert Series 

June 28, July 26, Aug. 23, 2024

The concerts will take place on the fourth Friday of the month during the summer.   

Concerts in the Park at Depot Park 

Through July 19, 2024 (Fridays) 

Enjoy Depot Park boasts Friday night concerts in June and July. There will also be kid’s activities like face painting and ice cream.

Kids Komotion Concert Series at Marshbank Park

Aug. 22, 2024

Enjoy some free, musical fun at Kids Komotion Concerts, which feature interactive children’s entertainment and inflatables. There will be snacks and refreshments available to purchase. Children’s Theatre of Michigan is on June 20 and Guy Louis Sferlazza is on Aug. 22. Pre-registration is required.

Rhythms in Riley Park

Through Aug. 30, 2024 (Fridays)

Families can enjoy a free night concert in Downtown Farmington featuring genres such as Country, Rock, Americana, Rockabilly and Blues. Make sure to bring your own chairs and blankets.

Music in the Park Events in Wayne County

Thursday Night LIVE Concert Series at Heritage Park

June 27; July 11, 18, 25; Aug. 1, 8, 15, 2024

Bring your own blanket and chairs to enjoy music and fun at the amphitheater in Heritage Park. The food trucks on site are Maraschinos Pizza, Cold Stone and Amaizeing Dawgs. Airbrush tattoos, balloon twisters and henna will be available on certain dates.

Tuesdays are Terrific at Heritage Park

July 9, 16, 23, 30; Aug. 6, 2024

Kids are invited to enjoy music, food and fun at Heritage Park. Bring your own blankets or folding chairs while you relax and enjoy the music on the Amphitheater lawn.

Food ‘n’ Tunes at Willow Metropark

Aug. 3, 2024

Bring a chair, or a blanket, and kick back to some fun tunes at the Pool Activity Area. See the opening band, Local Heroes and the headline band, Fifty Amp Fuse. There will be a beer tent and food trucks, too.

Music in the Air Concert Series at Kellogg Park

Through Aug. 30, 2024 (Fridays) 

See live outdoor musical performances on the Hines Park Lincoln Stage in Kellogg Park throughout the summer. You can drop off your chairs and blankets at 3:30 p.m. on concert days.  

Summer Concert Series in Northville Town Square

Through Sept. 28, 2024 (Saturdays)

Enjoy acoustic music and big bands performing in downtown Northville this summer. 

Music in the Park events in Washtenaw County

Ann Arbor Civic Band Summer Concert Season at Burns Park 

Through July 17, 2024 (Wednesdays) 

See the Ann Arbor Civic Band along with band directors, Dr. J and Nick Smith, at this summer concert series event.

Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights in Downtown Chelsea 

Through July 25, 2024 (Thursdays) 

Arts, entertainment and musical acts are performed at various and separate stages throughout historical downtown Chelsea every Thursday evening. For kids, there will be magicians, jugglers, face painters, balloon artists, circus acts, ‘How to Chalk’ themed art stage and more.

Sounds & Sights Festival in Downtown Chelsea

July 26-27, 2024

There will be live music at the social tent, car show, farmers market, kid zone, chalk art, art market, food court and more at this annual.

Music & Moves for Kids at Hudson Mills Metropark

Aug. 3, 2024

Families can come out to the park for an afternoon of music, dancing, music by DJ Cisco Kid, Magician Anthony Grupido, inflatables, face painting, yard games, food vendors and more. For all ages.
