How to Access Free Museum Passes Through Michigan Activity Pass

Visit your favorite children’s museums, parks, cultural centers and more this summer, thanks to the Michigan Activity Pass (MAP).

Card-carrying members of Michigan’s public libraries can reserve Michigan Activity Passes that grant access to all sorts of free tickets, discounted admission and other perks at popular attractions. Learn more about this program and how to snag the best family deals and discounts at museums and other family attractions in Michigan. 

How do I reserve a Michigan Activity Pass? 

  1. Visit the Michigan Activity Pass website and click “Get Pass.” 
  2. On the next screen, select your library system in the dropdown box. Filter the attractions by keyword, location and date. When you have selected all your preferences, click “Search.” 
  3. Browse the attractions included in the Michigan Activity Pass program. You can read more about each destination listed and the offers available for library card holders using the buttons on the right hand side of each listing. 
  4. Once you’ve found an attraction you’d like to reserve a pass for, click “Pass Options” and scroll down to the date you’d like to use the pass. 
  5. Read the pass details and click “Continue.” 
  6. Enter your library card number and your contact information. Be sure to add your email address so you receive a confirmation email. 
  7. On the final confirmation page, you will have an option to save the digital pass to a mobile wallet, or to print a physical pass. 

What do I need to know about Michigan Activity Passes? 

  • Only Michigan library card holders with a valid library card may reserve Michigan Activity Passes. 
  • Library card members may check out one MAP pass every seven days.
  • MAP passes can be checked out up to two weeks in advance. 
  • Each museum and attraction has specific guidelines, discounts and rules. Be sure to read the description for each attraction so you know what discounts you are eligible to receive.

Museums, historical societies, zoos and much more are included in the Michigan Activity Pass program. Discounts range from free admission for the entire family to a few dollars off tickets. Detroit Institute of Arts

Buy one general admission, get one free.

Detroit Historical Museum

One free admission for the library card holder.

Flint Children’s Museum

Receive reduced admission price of $6 (regular admission is $8). 

Huron-Clinton Metroparks

One free daily vehicle pass. 

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan

Save 25% on tickets. 

Michigan Transit Museum

Free admission to the Mount Clemens Depot Museum and a 10% discount on all purchases of $20 or more in the museum store. Train fares are $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-12.

Michigan State Parks

One free daily vehicle pass. 

Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit

One free admission for the library card holder.

Outdoor Adventure Center

Buy one admission, get a second admission free for up to six guests. 

SEA LIFE Michigan Aquarium

Save 25% on tickets.
