Spring break activities near Utica

Not sure what to do with the kids at home? Here are some great ideas for fun activities near you.

  • Explore the outdoors. Bundle up and embrace the winter weather with outdoor adventures like sledding, ice skating, or snowshoeing at local parks. Families can take a spin on the ice rink located at the Memorial Parkway.
  • Explore science out of the classroom. The Cranbrook Institute of Science, located in nearby Bloomfield Hills, is rolling out new winter and spring break Explore Camps for kids. This spring break, the camp will focus on the incredible discoveries of Archimedes. The daily activities will not repeat–campers will experience new activities each day.
  • Create your own spring seed bombs. While it might not feel like warm weather is around the corner, prepare for the sunny days ahead by making “seed bombs” with the kids. This easy DIY craft is simple: pick up some native seeds (here’s a list of what’s native to the area), clay, and peat-free compost. Once it’s warm enough for sowing wildflowers, use the seed bombs to add some color to the garden while making pollinators happy.
  • Take a day trip to the D. After two long years, the beloved Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory at Belle Isle in Detroit has reopened. The conservatory features a walking path through lush tropical flowers, fruiting trees like bananas and figs and unusual desert species. After visiting Belle Isle, stop over at Jojo’s Shake Bar in downtown Detroit for a sweet treat
