The Michigan Science Center is now featuring an all-new LEGO exhibition, Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks, presented by Ford Motor Company Fund. It features 20 Lego skyscrapers from around the world – including the Empire State Building, Burj Khalifa, Willis Tower, Q1 and more.
The exhibition was constructed by Ryan McNaught, one of the only 12 LEGO-certified professionals in the world. It took him and his team of builders more than 2,000 hours to build.
Families can view the already-built skyscrapers and create their own to display in the middle of the exhibit. If parents are worried that their little ones are too young to play and build with small LEGOs, they have a section for littles with DUPLO LEGOs to build with instead.

Towers of Tomorrow is open until January 2024. The exhibition on the fourth floor of the Michigan Science Center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays and until 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month.
Tip for families when visiting the Michigan Science Center
- It is recommended that all guests (including members) make reservations ahead of time.
- If you have a SNAP EBT card and a picture ID, general admission tickets are only $3/person for up to four people in your group.
- Make sure to use the restroom before heading up to the fourth floor, as there isn’t a restroom on that floor. There are family and gender-inclusive restrooms on the Main Level, Lower Level 1 and Lower Level 2 floors.
- Bring your own hand sanitizer or use the sanitizer and hand-washing locations throughout the museum, especially after playing with the LEGOs.
- The gift shop has a LEGO section and offers many unique items. If you’re looking for a birthday or Christmas gift, stop in the museum to shop (without having to pay for admission).
Things to do near the Michigan Science Center
- Use our family guide and check out the Detroit Institute of Arts. It offers free admission to all Macomb, Oakland and Wayne County residents. You can also grab a quick drink or bite to eat at Kresge Court while you’re there.
- Grab a pizza at Pie Sci, which serves bold, inventive pizza such as Detroit Brussels Harder, Lil’ Kimchi, Pig Apple, Buffalo Bill and more. It also offers brunch 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays.
- Ages 5 and up can go rock climbing at DYNO Detroit Climbing, located in Eastern Market. This is a great activity for families to do together.
