Kid-Friendly Sushi Spots in Metro Detroit

Are you looking to take your family out for a unique dining experience the whole family will love? Check out these family-friendly sushi restaurants. Most have kids menus in case your little one isn’t down for sushi.

These restaurants offer cooked sushi (tempura) as well. Your children can be as adventurous or non-adventurous as they like. They may even try something they didn’t know they liked.

Bahdah Sushi 

Sushi newbies can try one of the many vegetable rolls. Try rolls like Avocado, Asparagus, Cucumber, Sweet Potato or Fruit. For desserts, try Banana tempura, ice cream or ice cream tempura (mango, vanilla and green tea), ice mochi, Korean sweet pancake and cheesecake tempura.

Benihana

This restaurant is great for families. It offers a kids menu with chicken tempura, California roll, chicken tenders, hibachi chicken, hibachi steak, hibachi filet mignon and hibachi shrimp. This menu, for ages 12 and under, is served with soup or salad, a shrimp appetizer, veggies, steamed rice and ice cream.

House of FusYin

Families will enjoy the unique names of the sushi rolls at this Asian dine-in, delivery and takeout spot. Some of the 10-piece specialty rolls include Butterfly Roll, Rainbow Roll, Festival Roll, Detroit Crunch, New York Fantasy Roll, Tornado Roll and much more. It also has many bubble tea options.

Ichiban Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar

The kids meal options are hibachi with their choice of chicken, shrimp, steak, salmon, scallop or filet mignon. It also has ice cream, Mochi ice cream, cheesecake, tempura cheesecake, fried tempura ice cream and fried ice cream for the desserts.

Ichiban Japanese Bistro

Kids 10 and under can order their own hibachi with their choice of chicken, shrimp, steak, salmon or filet mignon. Kids meals come with steamed or fried rice and choice of soup or salad. The tempura is lightly battered and deep fried and can come as a meal with soup or salad and steamed or fried rice. For tempura, you can get either chicken, shrimp or vegetable meals.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar 

Try authentic, fresh Japanese cuisine. Kids will enjoy having their sushi delivered by conveyor belt, also known as, “Sushi Trains.” Also, enjoy seasonal dishes each month.

Love Sushi

Kids will love how simple the fruit rolls are. It has Banana roll, Strawberry roll, Kiwi roll, Mango roll, Yummy roll (banana and strawberry), Banana Crazy (deep-fried banana), Pineapple roll and Fruit roll (pineapple tempura, topped with strawberry, chocolate and love sauce). The menu has peppers next to all of the spicier options, which makes it easy to find something your children will love that isn’t too spicy for them.

Miyoshi Sushi

Kids will enjoy the unique look to this spot. The kids menu offers a California roll, cheese hot dog roll, hot dog and fries and dino nuggets and fries. You can get sushi rolls for your kids to try and if they don’t like it, you can order a kids meal, as a backup.

My Sushi

If your little one is scared to try the regular sushi rolls, this restaurant has plenty of fruit and vegetable sushi rolls they can try first. For instance, the “Fruit Rainbow Roll” has avocado, cucumber, pineapple, mango, kiwi and strawberry. They also have Mochi ice cream.

Oyaki Sushi

This family-oriented sushi restaurant specializes in Japanese classic and contemporary dishes. The chef recommends the U of M Roll, Sushi Set C, Las Vegas Roll, Saba Shioyaki, Chicken teriyaki dinner and Chicken bento box dinner. On the kids menu, there is crispy chicken tenders, French fries and vegetable fried rice. It offers ice cream, mochi ice cream, tempura ice cream and deep-fried Oreos for dessert.

Sakura Sushi

Families can choose from roll and hand roll sushi or the restaurant’s specialty rolls. The kids meal is chicken tenders and French fries and comes with a soft drink (for dine-in only).

SOHO

If parents are in the mood for sushi, but are unsure if their kids will like it, this is the perfect spot. Not only does it have tons of amazing sushi options, it has chicken wings, chicken nuggets, mini corn dogs and fries. It also offers Tempura cheesecake, strawberry mochi, green tea ice cream and other dessert options.

Sushi Zone

If you’re kids are new to the sushi game, try the Tropical Roll, which is a deep-fried roll with mango, kiwi, strawberry and cream cheese. Some of the other sushi roll names they will love are Super Dragon, Sea Monster, Fire Cracker and Ninja.

The Goblin

The atmosphere here is very kid-friendly, including large pink and blue Lego blocks as the décor. If you’re ordering a to-go order for the family, try the Panda Tray (has a Panda in the middle) or the Penguin Tray (has a penguin in the middle).

Wow Sushi

This sushi restaurant has some unique rolls on the menu. Kids will enjoy ordering rolls like Sea Monster, Lady Dragon, Spider, Rainbow Roll, Caterpillar and Special Dynamite Roll. It offers desserts like Mochi ice cream, Tempura cheesecake and Banana tempura.

Wuri Sushi

This restaurant features authentic Japanese and Korean cuisine made from scratch. It has plenty of Tempura (deep-fried) rolls to choose from if your little one is nervous to try raw sushi. Start them off with the “Flying Chicken,” which is deep-fried chicken, teriyaki roll and house sauce. They even have a fruit toll with avocado, apple, cucumber topped with mango.

Xushi Ko

Families can choose between numerous signature rolls, classic rolls, hand rolls, veggie rolls, baked rolls and tempura rolls. The kids menu is for ages 12 and under and has hibachi shrimp, hibachi steak, hibachi chicken, creamy pasta, buttered pasta, chicken tenders and French fries.

Yuki hibachi and poke sushi

It has a kids menu box/bowl for children under 10. They can choose from hibachi chicken, hibachi NY strip, hibachi vegetable, hibachi shrimp, hibachi calamari or teriyaki salmon.
