Memorial Day Parade and Events in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Memorial Day means more than just a long weekend. It’s a chance to get out of the house and honor our fallen soldiers.

This year, the weekend is full of ceremonies, services, parades and family fun activities all across Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties, that are sure to provide fun for everyone. Cake on the sunscreen and line the streets to watch a parade in the morning, then grab your cooler for a fun carnival treat later in the day!

Macomb

St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade 

May 28, 2023

  • Address: Along Jefferson Avenue, from Nine Mile to 11 Mile Road, St. Clair Shores
  • Cost: Free

The parade starts at Ridgeway and finishes at 11 Mile Road. It includes military and veterans groups, high school marching bands, public officials, clowns, motorcycles, Jeeps and more.

Annual Memorial Day Service at Resurrection Cemetery 

May 29, 2023

The day starts off in Section 55 and is followed by a service to dedicate Veterans inscription tablets in the Veterans section of the cemetery.

Sterling Heights Memorial Day Parade 

May 29, 2023

Hundreds gather for a solemn tribute to the fallen at this 44th-time event. There will be a parade to follow that kicks off from the City Center parking lot.

Oakland

Southfield Memorial Day Ceremony

May 26, 2023

Join the city of Southfield for the Memorial Day ceremony at Southfield City Hall.

Greater Rochester Heritage Days Festival

May 27-28, 2023

Enjoy this annual family-friendly festival, which features a car festival, a pioneer playground for the kids, art show with handmade artwork, plant sale and more.

Farmington Memorial Day Parade

May 29, 2023

  • Address: Along Grand River Avenue, between Orchard Lake Road and downtown Farmington
  • Cost: Free

The parade ends with a ceremony at Memorial Park at Grand River Avenue and Oakland Street. A free community luncheon follows.

Highland Township Memorial Day Ceremonies

May 29, 2023

These brief ceremonies honor Memorial Day. Make sure to get to the events well before they begin. All three are conducted by Highland VFW Post 9914.

Memorial Day Parade in Milford 

May 29, 2023

All veterans and active military are invited to march in Milford’s annual parade for Memorial Day. Donations are welcome.

Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony 

May 29, 2023

Celebrate Memorial Day at this annual procession. A ceremony will follow after.

South Lyon Memorial Day Parade

May 29, 2023

  • Address: Downtown South Lyon area
  • Cost: Free

The parade starts at Bartlett Elementary and heads down 10 Mile Road. It goes through downtown and ends at the South Lyon Cemetery with a ceremony that commemorates the holiday and the veterans who sacrificed their lives.

Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade

  • Address: Downtown Walled Lake area
  • Cost: Free

The parade will take place in downtown Walled Lake. They will be passing out candy along the way so make sure to bring a bag to collect it in.

Wayne

Dearborn Memorial Day Parade

May 29, 2023

  • Address: Downtown Dearborn area
  • Cost: Free

This 97th annual event brings local bands, businesses and organizations together to honor our fallen heroes.

Grosse Pointe Memorial Day Service 

May 29, 2023

Honor the sacrifice our fallen soldiers made at this annual service. Pre-registration is requested.
