Exhibits that bring the outdoors to life

A visit to the adventure center is the perfect place to let your kids explore all the diverse outdoor opportunities in Michigan, while being in the comfort and safety of the indoors.

From ice fishing to camping to hunting, there are over 20 interactive and educational exhibits to enjoy. Below are just a few special offerings, but be sure to check out the center’s website for a full list.

  • Beaver Lodge and Wetland: Step inside a beaver lodge, walk across lily pads, and discover how wetlands work, as you meet nature’s wetland engineers—beavers—who build dams and create vital ecosystems.
  • Hunting and Trapping Traditions: Explore Michigan’s hunting and trapping heritage by trying a laser shot simulator, identifying mammals by their fur, and learning how hunting supports conservation, the economy and wildlife management.
  • Michigan’s Rivers and Lakes: With 11,000 lakes and the most freshwater shoreline in the U.S., Michigan offers world-class fishing—step into a boat, reel in a big catch and paddle a river in the kayaking simulator.
  • Hit the Trail: Explore Michigan’s 13,000-plus miles of trails by riding a snowmobile, off-road vehicle or mountain bike in our simulators.

Test your skills with archery and outdoor sports

Another standout feature of the adventure center is its comprehensive archery program. This is an exciting opportunity for kids aged 8 and older to try their hand at a skill that has been around for centuries. The center provides a variety of archery experiences suitable for all levels, from a complimentary introductory session to a more comprehensive four-week class designed for those who wish to dive deeper into the sport.

Participants can enjoy target practice on both standard National Archery in the Schools Program targets and 3D animal targets, making each session engaging and dynamic. With shooting distances of 10 meters and 15 meters in advanced programs, your child will be able to improve their skills and confidence in no time. Don’t forget to remind them that closed-toed shoes are required.

Make the most of special events

Throughout the year, the OAC hosts special events that are perfect for family outings. Whether it’s free fishing clinics, holiday celebrations, or outdoor movie nights, these events are designed to provide fun-filled experiences for all ages.

Check their website to see what’s happening during your visit, and plan your trip around one of these exciting occasions!
