Good things are happening in metro Detroit for families. Spooky seasonal attractions are back for fall, and there’s plenty of new educational activities for families, too. How can you choose the best? It can be difficult to decide which attractions are worth the hype and which ones your family is better off skipping.

Show your Detroit Lions pride at Pride Plaza
Families with kids of all ages can gear up for game day fun at the Detroit Lions’ Pride Plaza on Brush Street. The free tailgate party outside Ford Field begins about two-and-a-half hours before kickoff and features many family-friendly activities, including live music, football-themed games, photo ops and more.
Travel back in time at Mi-Sci’s new dinosaur exhibit
Tyrannosaurs – Meet the Family is a traveling exhibit for dino lovers and little scientists of all ages. Visitors will learn about the evolution of the Tyrannosaur family, from the smallest Tyrannosaur to the massive T. rex. Get up close with these colossal creatures through real fossil displays, skeleton casts and hands-on discovery stations.
Learn about hockey in an exciting new way at The Henry Ford
The Henry Ford is geared up for hockey season. The museum’s newest special exhibit, Hockey: Faster Than Ever, offers sports fans of all ages a fascinating look at the history of the game and the interesting scientific breakthroughs that have shaped hockey into the fast-paced game we know today. Hands-on activities allow guests to compete in hockey challenges and see how they measure up to the pros.
Check out a new Halloween attraction at Detroit Zoo
Detroit Zoo unveiled a new Halloween-themed event this year: Jack O’ Lantern Journey! Families can enjoy different-themed illuminated pumpkin displays throughout– with themes such as Harry Potter, Disney Princesses, Marvel, Detroit Sports, Star Wars, Wizard of Oz and more.
Explore an enchanted Halloween forest at Glenlore Trails
Glenlore Trails’ annual haunted forest returns with a magical new twist this year. Through Nov. 3, 2024, families can explore Glenlore Trails Enchanted, an eerie, illuminated forest teeming with fairies, vampire bats, howling wolves, crooning pumpkins and plenty of whimsical, spellbinding spirits.
