We were a little hesitant at first to visit these houses, where Halloween is celebrated like Christmas—but let me tell you, we were NOT disappointed! The thrills were truly TO DIE FOR!
Metro Parent has an awesome list of some of the most wicked haunts in metro Detroit !The boys and I checked out a couple of local haunts in Clinton Township, and let’s just say they were screaming like babies who lost their binkies. Read on to see what we thought of Grim Manor and Haunting on Merrimac.
Grim Manor
- Address: 41269 Rugosa Drive, Clinton Township
- Hours: Oct. 25-Oct. 26 (7-8:30 p.m.), Oct. 30 (7-8:30 p.m.), Oct. 31 (6-8 p.m.)
We parked around the block for this haunted yard, just in case things got too spooky! You know, just in case we wanted a quick getaway in case we had to escape the zombies and jump right into the car.
As we cut through the thick fog, with thunder booming and screams echoing all around, I could already feel my heart racing. It was the kind of night where you just want to run and hide!
But don’t be too scared of the lost souls wandering around Grim Manor—they’re just looking for some new friends to join them!
And the best part? Grim Manor has a terrifying walkthrough that’ll make you forget sweet dreams and relive every single one of your nightmares! The boys had the best time being chased by their new friends.

Haunting on Merrimac
- Address: 41845 Merrimac Circle, Clinton Township
- Dates: Open until Halloween
The Merrimac Cemetery will definitely tempt you to stay—though you’ll want to run the other way at the same time. With creepy witches and bone-chilling skeletons hanging from the trees, the place is filled with DEATH, and you can only hope they don’t follow you home.
The boys had a freakishly fun time, especially with the zombie trying to break free. Oh, and be sure to say “hi” to the Lions fan when you spot him!
