Ways to Celebrate the Eclipse with Your Family in Metro Detroit

On April 8, 2024, an eclipse will cross North America, but it is not likely to be seen from metro Detroit. Just because we may not see it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate it.

Check out these fun kid-friendly events happening throughout metro Detroit.

Learn about the Annular Eclipse at Chesterfield Public Library

March 12 and 20, 2024

Ages 5 and up can join the Warren Astronomical Society at Chesterfield Public Library to learn what we need to know to be ready for the eclipse on April 8. All attendees will also get a pair of eclipse glasses.

April 3, 2024

The Upcoming Eclipse at Royal Oak Public Library

March 28, 2024

Ages 5 and up can join the Royal Oak Public Library to hear from Jacob Callebs from Wayne State University Planetarium, who will give a talk about eclipses. He’ll talk about why they happen, how to safely view them and what scientific experiments can be done using eclipses.

Family Solar Eclipse Fun Day! at Troy Public Library

Families can come by the Troy Public Library to learn about the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, do a craft and receive eclipse viewing glasses. For all ages.
