School calendars can be a great resource for families to have on hand while they’re planning their year. From holiday breaks to professional development days, here is the 2023-24 school calendar as approved by the Detroit Public Schools Community District Board of Education.

Here are a few key dates you’ll want to bookmark:

Important 2024-2025 school year dates

  • First Day of School: Aug. 26, 2024
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 27-29, 2024
  • Mid-Winter Break: Feb. 17-21, 2024
  • Winter Break: Dec. 23, 2024-Jan. 3, 2025
  • Spring Break: March 24-28, 2025
  • Last Day of School: June 10, 2025
