Spooktacular Halloween Happenings for Kids in Metro Detroit

This Halloween, there are plenty of kid-friendly events for you to check out with your family Whether it’s a trick-or-treating event, spooky attraction or even just some fall festivals, you’re sure to find something your children will enjoy.

My son Jordan and I love going to Glenlore Trails, Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village and the Halloween Stroll at Canterbury Village. This year, we’re going to make sure to check out all of the Halloween decorations on Tillson Street. 

Here are some of our spooktacular picks in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties you don’t want to miss.

Halloween on Tillson Street

Oct. 1-31, 2025 

Each year, Tillson Street in Romeo turns into a Halloween hotspot with over-the-top decorations lining the block. Stroll through any evening in October to see the spooky setups, or come on Halloween night for trick-or-treating from 6–8 p.m. while the street is closed to traffic.

Halloween Hoopla at Macomb Township Recreation Center

Oct. 10, 2025 

  • Address: 20699 Macomb St., Macomb
  • Cost:
    • Under 18: $7 (residents), $12 (non-residents)
    • 18+: $5 (residents), $10 (non-residents)

Halloween Hoopla brings costumes, games, and activities together for a family-friendly Halloween celebration at the Macomb Township Rec Center. Enjoy an evening packed with indoor and outdoor fun, plus a trick-or-treat trail for kids. Advance registration required; no tickets sold on-site.

HarvestFest at Freedom Hill County Park

Oct 18-19, 2025  

  • Address: 14900 Metro Pkwy., Sterling Heights
  • Cost:Tickets are $9 per person (children under 3 free). Day-of tickets are $10, payable by cash, Venmo, or Cash App. Parking is $6 per vehicle.

HarvestFest offers more than 25 trick-or-treat stations along with hayrides, inflatables, live shows, a petting zoo, and plenty of food trucks. Families can also enjoy music, movies, and meet-and-greets with princesses and superheroes, while supporting a weekend-long food drive to benefit local pantries.

Enchanted Glenlore Trails

Sept. 25–Nov. 2, 2025 (Thursday–Sunday) Entry from 7–10 p.m. (tours start at dusk)

Take the kids on a one-mile illuminated forest walk filled with glowing lights, music, and interactive surprises. This year’s “Witching Hour” theme includes family-friendly displays, games, and seasonal treats, with strollers and wagons welcome along the trail.

Halloween Stroll at Canterbury Village

Oct. 3–31, 2025; Fridays–Sundays, plus Oct. 30–31; 5 p.m. start, 2025

  • Address: 2325 Joslyn Ct., Lake Orion
  • Cost: Early bird $15.99 per person (plus tax/fees; $18.54 total) through Sept. 5; $25 at the door; children under 2 free

Families can stroll through Canterbury Village transformed into a glowing Halloween wonderland with lights, animatronics, friendly characters, and endless photo ops. Kids will love the jack-o’-lantern displays and festive atmosphere, with cider, donuts, and food available along the way.

Meadow Brook Hall-oween at Meadow Brook Hall

Oct. 26, 2025; timed entry at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Kids can trick-or-treat in costume throughout the estate, explore woodland paths, and tour the first floor of the historic mansion. Families will also enjoy games, crafts, cider and donuts inside the heated Garden Tent, plus stories about Halloween traditions.

Trick-or-Treat: Superheroes at Troy Historic Village

Oct. 24, 2025, 4–8 p.m.; Oct. 25, 2025, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

  • Address: 60 W. Wattles Road, Troy
  • Cost: THS members $5 in advance, $7 at the door; non-members $9 in advance, $10 at the door; children under 2 free

Families can trick-or-treat through the Troy Historic Village with space-themed games, crafts, and plenty of candy, including teal pumpkin options. Costumes are encouraged, and the event is friendly, not scary. Advanced registration is recommended, as pre-registration closes Oct. 23.

Trick-or-Treat Trail at Marshbank Park

Oct. 26, 2025; sessions at 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.

Kids can trick-or-treat along a festive trail at Drake Sports Park, collecting goodies from costumed characters, local businesses, and community groups. Each child receives a treat bag plus a cider-and-donut voucher. Advanced registration is required, and this event is expected to sell out.

Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village

Oct. 2–5, 9–12, 16–19, 23–26, 2025; 6–10 p.m. (early 5:30 p.m. entry for Hallowe’en Express ticketholders)

  • Address: 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn
  • Cost: Members $23–$32.50; public $27–$38; youth (2–11) receive 25% off; seniors (62+) receive 10% off; children under 2 free; Hallowe’en Express train $5 add-on; parking free for members, $9 for nonmembers

Families can stroll lantern-lit streets and glowing jack-o’-lantern paths, meet more than 50 costumed characters, and enjoy storybook vignettes, live music, and wagon rides. The event is friendly for all ages and includes add-ons like the Hallowe’en Express train ride and themed dining packages. Advanced tickets are required, as this popular event sells out each year.

Little Goblins at Ford House 

Oct. 25, 2025; 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Kids can trick-or-treat along a decorated trail, play lawn games, explore a kid-friendly straw maze, and enjoy a hayride that ends with cider and donuts. This daytime event is designed just for little ones, making it a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween. Advanced registration is required.

Pumpkin Palooza in Downtown Plymouth 

Oct. 19, 2025; 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

  • Address: Downtown Plymouth area
  • Cost: Free

Downtown Plymouth turns into a Halloween hotspot for this annual family-friendly celebration with trick-or-treating, live entertainment, and a costume contest. Kids can also check out more than 100 scarecrows on display in Kellogg Park for extra photo fun.

Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest at Grand Circus Park

Oct. 25, 2025; 2–4 p.m.

Bring your pup to this annual Halloween costume party featuring contests for best costume, scariest, most creative, and best pet-and-parent duo. Families can also enjoy themed games, music from a DJ, giveaways, and treats for both dogs and humans.

Spooktacular Ekk-Stravaganza at Hack House

Oct. 12, 2025; 12–3 p.m.

Families can enjoy pumpkin painting, games, train rides, museum tours, and a pumpkin patch at this free community Halloween event. Costumes are encouraged, and pizza and donuts will be served.

Thrills at the Mills at Hudson Mills Metropark

Oct. 25, 2025; 4–6 p.m.

Kick off Halloween with trunk-or-treating, decorated vehicles like police cars and tractors, and kid-friendly activities from the Metroparks Outreach van. This sensory-friendly event includes quiet spaces and low noise levels to make it comfortable for all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Halloween Concert at Hill Auditorium

Oct. 27, 2024 

The University Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras join forces for this annual Halloween concert tradition filled with spooky seasonal music. Families can expect a lively performance under the artistic direction of Kenneth Kiesler.
