See the Birmingham Public Schools 2024-2025 Calendar: Key Dates and Holidays

Schools calendars provide families with a snapshot of the entire year. Holidays breaks, the first day of school and professional development days vary school by school, so it’s a great idea to keep it handy. Here is the 2024-2025 school calendar as approved by Birmingham Public Schools.

  • First Day of School: Sept. 4, 2024
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 28-29, 2024
  • Winter Break: Dec. 23, 2024-Jan. 3, 2025
  • Spring Break: March 24-28, 2025
  • Last Day of School: June 13, 2025

August 2024

  • Teachers report for professional learning P.D. (A.M. and P.M.): Aug. 27, 2024
  • Teachers report for professional learning P.D. (A.M. and P.M.): Aug. 28, 2024
  • Teachers work on room preparation. No district or building meetings: Aug. 29, 2024

September 2024

  • First day of school—Half Day (A.M.) for all students; Teacher professional learning P.D. (P.M.). Beginning of first semester: Sept. 3, 2024
  • All Schools Half Day (A.M.); EXCEPT kindergarten and junior kindergarten students (for assessment purposes). Teacher professional learning P.D. (P.M.): Sept. 4, 2024
  • Full days of school for all students. EXCEPT kindergarten and junior kindergarten (for assessment purposes): Sept. 5-6, 2024
  • Groves High School Curriculum Night: Sept. 18, 2024
  • Seaholm High School Curriculum Night: Sept. 19, 2024

October 2024

  • All Schools Half Day (A.M.); Elementary, BCS, and Middle School Staff— Conference/Grades Preparation (P.M.). High School P.L.C. meetings (P.M.): Oct. 31, 2024

November 2024

  • No school district-wide. Conference Compensation Day for Teachers: Nov. 5, 2024
  • Elementary and BCS students Half Day (A.M.) only; Elementary and BCS Conferences, (1-4 p.m.) and (5-8 p.m.): Nov. 13-14, 2024
